Hotel Astoria is peacefully and quietly located along the coast of south Crete, on the main road of the picturesque fishing village Agia Galini. Due to its central geographic location, Agia Galini is an attractive base to culturally and leisurely explore south central Crete with its beautiful secluded beaches, charming villages and interesting archaeological sites of Phaistos and Ghortys.

The seaside village Agia Galini boasts a beautiful sandy beach and a cozy village center with inviting little taverns and local shops. Also Plakias, a nearby coastal resort, has a beautiful beach, and the enchanting Vori takes pride in an excellent Museum of Cretan Ethnology. From here it is not far to the Messara plain and to Matala, also known as former hippie colony. Moni Preveli, Spili and Rethymnon also belong to the places of interest within an acceptable driving range.

Please note that Agia Galini’s main road is terminal: it leads to the village’s port, from where there is no through traffic. To reach for example Moni Preveli or villages like Plakias, one must make a detour via Spili. The other option is to take a boat.
